A George I Britannia standard silver Kitchen Pepper, London 1717, by William Fleming. \n \nAn accompanying valuation, dated 1964, from Walter Wilson of King Street, London, names the then owner as H.P. A. Stokes, Esq. Condition: \n
This pepper is of good colour, surface, and condition overall. It appears to have had some additional very ancient soldering around the upper applied band on the body. There is also some distortion to the upper edge of the body [under the removable bun top] adjacent to the handle. An interior crack in the surface of the sheet of the body by the vertical seam does not extend beyond the surface. There are no initials or other engraving but the surface shows no sign of ever having been erased.
