A George III unmarked silver medal inscribed: 'Presented by the True Sons of Equity to Mr. G. Smallpiece 1820.' \n'The Morning Chronicle' of the 11th October 1820 has a reference to the Sons of Equity: 'The following Benefit Societies will assemble this day in Lincoln's Inn Fields, and thence proceed to Brandenburg House to present their addresses to His Majesty:- Oxford Union, Green Man, Berwick street, Soho; St. Ann's Union, White Swan, Chandos street, Covent Garden; True Sons of Equity, Crown and Barley-Mow, Gray's Inn Lane...' \nOn 7th February 1823, the same newspaper carried the story of William Nobbs, 'one of the Stewards of a Benefit Society called The True Sons of Equity, held at the Crown and Barley Mow, Gray's Inn lane, corner of Bell Court,' ... who was 'charged with exciting other persons to rob the Club box of a sum of money, between 60l and 70l.'
