A George IV cast silver harlequin Sugar or Jam spoon, London 1826, Edward Farrell. \n \nFarrell was one of the earliest 19th century silversmiths to experiment with and adapt antique designs. Harlequin stemmed tea spoons and nippers were popular in the middle of the 18th century and Farrell modified the design as a sugar or jam spoon - a form which did not exist in the 18th century.
