An Austrian silver and enamel Cigarette Case, with vesta compartment, striker and fusee. By Georg Adam Scheid, Vienna, circa 1893. Marked 'G.A.S.' and with the Austrian 900 standard mark. The front of the case is applied in enamel with a well-painted hunting scene and engraved 'Bechtolsheim-Dragoner Holics 1898.' The inner rim is engraved with a retailer's name 'L. Schuchs, Nachf, Wien.' '[The firm of L. Schuch's, Austrian Imperial Court supplier, was founded in 1831, and was succeeded by G. Edlauer]. \n \nHolics, in Slovakia, was at this date a part of the Hapsburg empire. The Bechtolsheim Dragoons, the fifteenth Dragoon regiment of the Austrian Imperial army, was otherwise known as Archduke Joseph's Lower Austria and Moravian Draggons and was composed largely of troops of Czech nationality.
