A pair of small George III silver Dishes from Catherine Scrimshire's Service.

A pair of George III small gadroon edged Meat Dishes, London 1784, Wakelin and Tayler, engraved with scratch weights '21=0' and '21=5'. Each engraved with an armorial in a lozenge for Catherine Scrimshire [1724-1792] of Park Place, St. James's. These dishes were part of a service left by Miss Scrimshire to her cousin's husband Thomas Plumb of Tong Hall, West Yorkshire. \nThe service as described in her will then comprised: \n'One large dish, two others of the next size thereto, four other smaller and of the next size to the last, eight small dishes, four round dishes, one fish plate, four dozen of plates, one dozen of soup plates, four salts ornamented with flowers, four salt spoons, two dozen of silver handle knives, three dozen of four pronged forks, one dozen of large spoons, one dozen and an half of small spoons, one dozen and an half of small silver handled knives, one dozen and an half of small silver forks, four sauce boats, four sauce ladles' together with two further sauce boats and a plated tureen.'
