John Bridge of Rundell, Bridge. \nA George IV silver Salt Cellar formed as a sea urchin resting on coral branches with a rocky base. \nThis salt matches another in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. The number '4' is struck on the inside of the shell and the number' 2' on the base of the gilt removable liner: which would suggest that this cellar was originally part of a set of four. A third salt cellar, apparently matching these two, appeared at auction but had been turned into an inkstand. The design is typical of the inventive naturalism of the firm of Rundell in this period. Condition: \n
Good.
