A Victorian silver naturalistic Biscuit Box by Hukin and Heath.

Hukin and Heath. \nA silver Biscuit or Bon Bon Box, formed as a stylied nut, London 1889. The operation of the handle raises and lowers the leaf-form lid. The interior of the box is silver-gilt. Hukin and Heath produced a wide variety of pieces in silver and silver-plate in this period which denonstrate both the mechanical inventiveness of the firm but also an ability to combine sheet metal and wire in an elegant abstracted naturalism with nut, fruit, bark, leaf and flower forms. Hukin and Heath also produced a larger drum-shaped biscuit box which has only encountered in silver-plate but which is shown for comparison in some of this series of images. \n \nFor an article on the history of this partnership refer to the 'Research' tab of this website.
