A Victorian silver small Presentation Shovel, Newcastle 1852, by David Reid. The handle of the shovel is engraved 'Mr. John Wilkin from the Rev’d. C. Perigal as a Token of Appreciation of his Skill in Roadmaking.’ \n \nThe Reverend Charles Perigal, 1777-1854, was the son of Jean Perigal, a Huguenot silk-worker, and was Rector of Ellingham, near Alnwick, from 1803-1854. \n \nJohn Wilkin has not yet been identified.
