An 18th century silver-mounted Travelling Inkwell and Pounce Pot.

A George III unmarked silver and glass Travelling Inkwell with pounce pot and sander in the base. The base is engraved; ''The Gift of Samuel Kirshaw D.D. to Thomas Cockburn Esqr. in Acknowledgement of his Good care of his Affairs in Jamaica 1770.' \nDr. Samuel Kirshaw was the son of Dr. Richard Kirshaw, educated Katherine Hall, Cambridge, B.A. 1727, M.A. 1731, D.D. 1740. 1736 succeeded his father as Rector of Ripley, Yorkshire; elected Vicar of Leeds in 1746 but litigation over the election prevented his taking up the post until 1751. He died, aged 80, in 1786. \nThomas Cockburn was a lawyer in Jamaica - who evidently acted on behalf of Kirshaw in the island. Condition: \n

Good overall with some wear from usage. The base section, which is held by a bayonet fitting, is quite tight to take apart from the upper body.
