An unusual Victorian silver Letter Opener in the form of a Naval Officer's Sword with Scabbard. London 1874, by E.H. Stockwell. Some parcel-gilding. The sword is locked in place in the scabbard with a hinged flap. Stockwell produced a range of 'Sword' paper knives - usually of army type, this is the first example noted imitating a Naval sword. Good. One suspension ring with a very small solder addition. Some wear to the gilding.
