A remarkable set of eight Victorian silver Ice Tongs, London 1871, by George Adams, each engraved with a crest on one side and an earl's coronet on the other for the 3rd Earl of Eldon, John Scott, born 1845. The Earls of Eldon lived at Encombe House, near Kingston in Dorset and Stowell Park, in Northleach, Gloucestershire. Encombe house was built in 1735 by John Pitt, second cousin of William Pitt the Younger, on the site of an earlier house which was demolished. Dimensions: \n
