The Earl of Holdernesse's silver Warming Stand.

A George III silver and wood Warming Stand, London 1761, Parker and Wakelin. Engraved with the crest of the Earl of Holdernesse and, underneath, with a scratch weight '28=14'. \nThe legs terminate in 'Onslow' scrolls and the hinged dish supports are applied with stylised leaves. The frame is ornamented with gadrooning. A smaller, detachable, central ring frame, is unmarked. \n \nRobert D'Arcy, 8th Baron Conyers and 4th Earl of Holdernesse (1718-1778) purchased a quantity of exceptionally fine silver from Parker and Wakelin from 1757 onwards. Unfortunately, the 'Gentleman's Ledger' for the period 1761-1766 is missing, so the details of the purchase of this warmer are missing. Condition: \n

Good with very minor bruising to the burner and some surface knocks to the central ring.
