Two Victorian Scottish silver Prize Medals for Curling.

Two Victorian Scottish silver Curling Medals, Edinburgh 1877, by Hamilton, Crichton and Company. One medal is fully hallmarked, the other is hallmarked but without a date letter. Medal [2] is applied with a curling stone at the top and is engraved  'Presented to The Arniston Curling Club by Mrs. Dundas of Arniston October 1877' and on the reverse with the names of various winners from 1887 to 1909. Medal [1] is applied with a curling stone resting on two brushes at the top and is engraved 'Presented by Captain Dundas to the Members of the Arniston Curling Club to be played for Annuallu between North and South of the Gore', the reverse is engraved with the winners from 1890 to 1912: the 'South' being the frequent winner. \nThe donors of the medals were probably Robert Dundas [1857-1910] and his wife, Emily [Knox]. The Dundas family, of Arniston House, Gorebridge, Midlothian, have played a significant part in Scottish history over several centuries. Condition: \n
